In Memoriam - 33

I have just learned that Nick Cardy, a longtime DC Comics artist, has passed away today. He did so many of DC's covers back in the 1960's and 1970's, and was especially known for his work on Aquaman, Batman, and The Teen Titans.

I've always enjoyed his artwork, and he was a favorite.

RIP, Nick Cardy.

In Memoriam - 32

As I'm sure most (if not all of you) have heard, Annette Funicello passed away earlier today. I used to watch reruns of The Mickey Mouse Club every day after school in the '70's and the Beach Blanket movies.

Below is a panel from MAD Magazine's Happy Days parody from the early 1970's that I decided to include with this tribute. :)

She will be missed.

RIP, Annette Funicello

In Memoriam -- 30 & 31

We lost two good men yesterday. I never paid TOO much attention to Roger Ebert, though, as I ignored a lot of movie reviews and went to movies based on the subject matter, if I liked it, ignoring what any reviewer may've had to say about it.

Carmine Infantino was a great comicbook artist whose work on The Flash, Batman, Elongated Man and many others shaped my perceptions of what these characters should look like in the comics.

RIP, gentlemen. You will be missed.

I just learned minutes ago that Charles Durning has passed away today. My favorite roles of his were in Tootsie, as Dustin Hoffman's suitor, and in Best Little Whorehouse In Texas, as the over-the-top governor.

He will be missed.

Rest In Peace, Charles Durning.

In Memoriam - 27

Jack Klugman has just passed away yesterday on Christmas Eve. He brought joy and laughter to millions of people as Oscar Madison, the slob of a sportswriter on The Odd Couple and the crime-fighting coroner on Quincy, M.D.

He will be missed.

Rest In Peace, Jack Klugman.

I mostly remember Mr. Karras from his Victor, Victoria role with Julie Andrews and the late James Gardner (a VERY funny movie), and Gary Collins from his Sixth Sense TV show on Saturday nights on ABC-TV.

RIP, gentlemen.
