How My Superman Toys ALMOST Got Me In Serious Trouble!

It was a few years ago, and my wife Naomi and I were both at home. Naomi was watching TV, and I'd gone into the back room to straighten out my Superman toy collection. Now, it was QUITE extensive at one point, but I'd sold much of it off back in '06.

Anyway, I'd just happened to have several figures of Superman moved on top of a dresser, when I noticed something. There were about seven of them, all wrapped in chains, or in various stages of breaking the chains, as Superman is wont to do. I'd called Naomi into the room.

"Honey! Come here!"

"What is it?"

"LOOK, Honey!"

"What IS it? I don't see anything!"

I pointed directly at the Superman toys on the dresser, and said, "Don't you SEE? SUPERMAN'S married, too!"

At that point, the sky outside darkened. Barking dogs ceased, and ran under porches, whimpering. Children playing stopped, and cried for their mothers. Women fainted, and grown men fled in terror. The skies parted, and a thunderous voice boomed down from the heavens above.

"You're on your own here, kid!"

I'm STILL paying for that mistake, guys! Save yourselves! LEARN from my error! ;)

Happy Anniversary, Honey! I love you. :)

The Weather Started Turning Rough...

(With apologies to Gilligan's Island)

Wow! St. Louis had some BIG time storms throughout the day yesterday! We got quite a bit of hail along with several tornado warnings.

My brother Carl was trapped in his car during some of the worst of the hailstorm, but he got some cool video of it, and it was even highlighted on the local Fox station's news program this evening!

Just wanted to share this with everyone! :)

Superman Around The World! 2

Hello, again! :)

Heh. I'm FINALLY gonna put up some banners again! :) Here's the reason why I can't put 'em up every week. Not every moderator of the boards I submit banners to changes the banner every week. They'll keep the banner up for almost a MONTH sometimes. I'm used to the original mods changing their banners usually on Saturday or Sunday, and that's how I've done it since I started.

Also, if someone ELSE submits a banner, I'll put theirs up, too, on the board. If they submit more than one, I'll alternate 'em with mine. So, THAT'LL slow down this blog a tad. :)

Now, THESE banners are the ones I'd first put up for the Superman Message Board. I'd asked posters there to give the names of their hometowns without telling 'em why. When I started posting the banners below, they all understood. :)

McAlester, OK, is where my wife Naomi is from, and St. Louis, MO, is where I hail from! :)

Now, I'll shut up and let you view the banners and hopefully enjoy 'em! :)

I hope you enjoyed these banners. I'll be back later with SOMETHING for all of you to check out! :)

How Superman, Batman, Captain America And Iron Man Helped Spread The Word Of God

I used to collect comic books until about a few years ago, when a change in my finances forced me to quit. I still get TPBs every once in a great while, though. :)

Anyway, this is the story of how my old comics helped spread God's Word.

It was 1984, and Uncle Richard and his family came home to the States from Africa, where he was a Lutheran missionary. At that time, I'd had several hundred (maybe thousands) of comics at my parents' house. I was showing the books off to some of my cousins, and they were having fun going through my books and trying to read as many as they could.

I came upon the idea to give 'em several a bit later, and my mom suggested I give 'em a couple of grocery bags full. I agreed, knowing Mom would probably "donate" 'em to the nearest garbage can! I figured my cousins would get a lot of enjoyment out of books I no longer wanted to read.

So, in the two bags went Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, X-Men, Captain America, Iron Man, Justice League of America, and Teen Titans, to name just a few.

I figured the books would be read, re-read, and probably tossed.

A few years later, I found out Uncle Richard used the books as BRIBES to checkpoint guards! He'd often used Bibles, but he also needed them to do his work. So the guards were given Superman, Batman, and the others, to speed up the checkpoint searches! The Man of Steel and The Darknight Detective were VERBOTEN in many countries almost as much, if not AS much as, The Bible! So the guards HAPPILY let Uncle Richard pass through with no trouble.

Uncle Richard was able to continue his work, thanks to the comicbook heroes! :)

THAT'S how Superman and Batman (and the rest) helped spread God's Word! I hope you enjoyed that little tale. It's ALL true! I'll be back this weekend with some more banners. :)

Superman Around The World! 1

One More Night, One More Night...

(With apologies to Phil Collins)

DC Comics restarted their entire line of comics with fifty-two new #1's in September, 2011. That means several heroes were never born, never survived certain battles, never adopted their heroic identities, or were never married.

In the last category, Superman was never married, along with the Flash and other heroes. Knowing this, I made several banners with Superman flying Lois (Kent) Lane around the country and world, enjoying a few last nights together.

Here are the banners, which all appeared on the Superman Message Board:

New York was a no-brainer to have our heroes visit, especially as parts of New York have been said to have been the model for Metropolis. :)

Hawaii was also an easy choice for Superman and Lois to visit, as they'd had their honeymoon there in the comics back in 1996 when they got married. :)

Finally, St. Louis! St. Louis is MY hometown, and I MADE these banners. If I want Superman to visit here, he'll VISIT here! ;)

Oh, and kids? Don't be fooled! Spider-Man did NOT marry his girlfriend first. SUPERMAN did it back in 1978! True, it was the Golden-Age, Earth-2 version that married his Lois Lane, but no matter HOW you slice it, Superman did it first! :)

I'll be back with more banners later! :)

Great KRYPTON! Or, Holy COINCIDENCES, Batman!

Okay, I'm just sitting here at home, and my wife and I are watching the local news here in St. Louis. All of a sudden an INCREDIBLE story comes up!

(An aside here: Most of you know my full name is Gernot Armbruster, right? That's gonna be VERY important to know here.)

A man named GERRY ARMBRUSTER stole a large amount of Superman memorabilia from a 76-year-old man! He was caught by the police and is awaiting trial, though, and his victim IS okay.

My wife and I are STILL laughing about the coincidences, though. :)
