I've always liked Wonder Woman, even before Lynda Carter showed up on the airwaves in the 1970's. I think the first Wonder Woman story I'd read was either in Justice League of America, or in one of the giant tabloid Christmas comics DC used to put out. :)

All of these Wonder Woman banners were on the Wonder Woman message board! :)

Best Buds

No, this ISN'T about Superman and Batman, but rather Green Lantern and the Flash! It's a shame DC never came up with a catchy nickname for this crime-fighting duo, as they did for Superman and Batman (World's Finest).

Anyway, I've got 4 banners here featuring Green Lantern(s) and the Flash, which were of course, on the Flash and Green Lantern Message Boards! :)

I always got a kick out of both Earths' Green Lanterns and enjoyed their occasional team-ups, so I just decided to show each one of 'em with their ring-charging oaths. :)

I always felt Flash lent himself to a comedic atmosphere moreso than Green Lantern, hence the banners. I also always felt Flash should be the fastest man alive, so I put him in the lead, of course. :)

The second banner was inspired by a MAD magazine joke from the Wrath of Khan Star Trek movie. In the parody, Khan's ship radioed to the Enterprise "We have you surrounded!" The Enterprise radioed back: "How? You're only ONE ship!" To which Khan replied, "We have a VERY fast ship!" I stole that joke for the second Flash banner! :)

Three Cheers For The Red, White, And Blue (And Black & White)!

Captain America's been a favorite of mine for several years, and here are some banners I made for the Gold-Silver-Bronze Ages and the Captain America Message Boards.

Speaking of the Golden-Silver-Bronze Ages Message Board, I just became Moderator there! Come on over and pay us a visit! :)

Now here are the patriotic banners. I was pretty much inspired to do so with the movie which came out this summer, which was a HECK of a lotta fun! :)

The last one was fun, in that I always get a kick out of seeing the different live-action versions of different heroes in different variations of the same costume. :)

The foist banner comes from the old Cartoon Board, and the next two from the DC Message Board.

The next one shows our good friend Quagmire scopin' out the talent on the old Cartoon Board, while the next one I'd titled "One Afternoon At The Cartoon Message Board Muscle Beach", with Popeye, Underdog, and Mr. Incredible showing off for Wanda and Smurfette. ;)

Superman Around The World! 1

One More Night, One More Night...

(With apologies to Phil Collins)

DC Comics restarted their entire line of comics with fifty-two new #1's in September, 2011. That means several heroes were never born, never survived certain battles, never adopted their heroic identities, or were never married.

In the last category, Superman was never married, along with the Flash and other heroes. Knowing this, I made several banners with Superman flying Lois (Kent) Lane around the country and world, enjoying a few last nights together.

Here are the banners, which all appeared on the Superman Message Board:

New York was a no-brainer to have our heroes visit, especially as parts of New York have been said to have been the model for Metropolis. :)

Hawaii was also an easy choice for Superman and Lois to visit, as they'd had their honeymoon there in the comics back in 1996 when they got married. :)

Finally, St. Louis! St. Louis is MY hometown, and I MADE these banners. If I want Superman to visit here, he'll VISIT here! ;)

Oh, and kids? Don't be fooled! Spider-Man did NOT marry his girlfriend first. SUPERMAN did it back in 1978! True, it was the Golden-Age, Earth-2 version that married his Lois Lane, but no matter HOW you slice it, Superman did it first! :)

Justice Banners Of America!

A few years ago, I moderated the Justice League Of America message board, and created several banners for it, during and after my tenure there. :)

I grew up on the original JLA, but didn't know all of the members' names until sometime in the '70's, in high school. Like, who is that GREEN guy on the team? ;) And I was always kind'a partial to Green Arrow, 'cause we share the same initials. ;)

These last two are triptychs from DC card sets in 1993. I found the mini-sets on-line and wanted to use 'em for banners. I think these two really came out well, and I enjoyed this version of the JLA with Superman by Dan Jurgens. I still wanna get a TPB of this era of Justice League! :)

Now, the Justice League International era with Green Lantern, Power Girl, Flash, and Elongated Man wasn't quite as good in my opinion, but still provided some fun reading. :)

This last banner comes from the cover of Justice League of America #1, released in September 2011. I've not read it yet, but may after it comes out in paperback. The newest comics don't seem to be quite as much fun as those of the Gold, Silver, Bronze Ages, or even beyond. Ah, well. I still have my reprints of the older comics! :)

Great KRYPTON! Or, Holy COINCIDENCES, Batman!

Okay, I'm just sitting here at home, and my wife and I are watching the local news here in St. Louis. All of a sudden an INCREDIBLE story comes up!

(An aside here: Most of you know my full name is Gernot Armbruster, right? That's gonna be VERY important to know here.)

A man named GERRY ARMBRUSTER stole a large amount of Superman memorabilia from a 76-year-old man! He was caught by the police and is awaiting trial, though, and his victim IS okay.

My wife and I are STILL laughing about the coincidences, though. :)
